Did you hear how Andre Wickstrom unexpectantly show up and surprised the audience with his first English set EVER!? And did you hear how headliner Tomi Walamies tore down an absolutely packed house with his Jewish jokes? And how about when host Louis Zezeran threw wads of 100 euro notes at everyone in the first ten rows?

This young Swede is absolutely massive in Sweden regularly touring his native country as well as the rest of Scandinavia. We’re lucky to have him for one night only in Helsinki as he makes his Finland debut. Come see the world wide observed from the eyes of a Swedish lad

HENRIK BLOMKVIST (Sweden)

Henrik is one of Sweden’s top up-and-coming comedians. His smooth storyteller comic style will make you fall in love with him, want to marry him, have his babies, then kidnap his babies to Russia. Yeah…he’s THAT funny!

STEPHANIE GAUDREAU (USA)

Stephanie came to Finland for the same reason why everyone comes: Hot smokin’ Finnish chics! Why else? She’s also funny as heck and her unique perspective on life makes for an hysterical performance. Oh, and she’s also like a black belt in karate (or jujitsu or something). So don’t fuck with her.

ANDREI TUCH (Estonia)

We all know what Finns think of Estonians (white trash). Well what do Estonians think of Finns!? (nobody cares) Andrei will take the Viking Boat to Helsinki and tell you! (cause we’re too cheap to send him on Linda Line)

The monthly English Comedy Club is back from summer holiday! We wrote new jokes, picked berries, and spent entire too much time in Amsterdam.

The first half of 2010 was an absolute riot. We brought in top comedians from Europe, sold out shows, and sent every audience member home in stitches. And we guarantee the second half will be even better!!

+37C degrees in July? Can this month get any hotter? Oh yes it can…!

August kicks off with a very special guest (not “special” as in “retarded”), comedian Tomi Walamies!! No stranger to the English Comedy Club, he often pops in to perform a few minutes, but this time we’ve pulled him in for a full headlining set! Performing throughout Europe, he’s truly one of the funniest comics in Finland.

NICKOLAY ANTONOV (Russia)

He looks Russian, sounds American, he just got out of the Finnish army, and according to Wikipedia ‘Nikolay Antonov’ is a “Retired Bulgarian Athlete who won the 200m sprint in 1991″ – but according to us he’s a really funny Ruskie.

We saw him at the English Comedy Club last August when absolutely tore down the house. The young Finnish comic is back to try and repeat his success!

Phil Schwarzmann is extremely good-looking, insanely funny, totally likable, very handsome, and the one writing this text. He’s looking forward to trying some new dick jokes and airplane observations.

The hostess with the mostess, this zaney Australian will your MC for the night. He drinks Foster’s, yells “Crikey!”, and will lead you to believe you have an uncle named Bob. Careful ladies, his jokes might make you pregnant!

“Gay? Yay!” – Helsinki Gay Pride Festival 2010: English Comedy Show!

Helsinki’s annual Gay Pride Festival kicks off this week and as part of the official celebrations, Manala will be hosting the English Comedy Show, “Gay? Yay!”, on Thursday July 1st at 19.00. Yay!!

English Comedy Club in Helsinki – Wed May 19th – YES!!!

Your favorite monthly all-English stand-up comedy club is coming out swinging on Wednesday May 19th.

With our commitment to bring you international comedic talent, the “English Comedy Club” at Manala in Helsinki are shipping in a couple guys who are making their Finland debut…

—LINEUP———————

Alireza Shokouhi (SWE) – Hailing from Iran and one of the fast raising stars of Sweden, Alireza will put a whole new meaning to the word, “killing”. He’ll make his stand-up in Finland at Manala’s English Comedy Club, and he hopes to take home his 72nd virgin wife.

Eric Seufert (USA) – Another Finnish debut, comedian Eric Seufert got his start doing improv in Austin, TX and later moved to the UK. Residing now in Tartu, Eric performs stand-up all around Estonia.

Ida Grönlund (FIN) – If you missed Ida at her English Comedy Club premiere in 2009, then you missed out on one of the funniest sets in the club’s history. We’re so happy to have her back, you and should be too!

Phil Schwarzmann (USA) – This asshole keeps getting invited back to the English Comedy Club each month, no one’s sure why. But if you’re into fart sounds made with a human armpit, you’re in for a treat.

Sampo Luoto (FIN) – Sampo performs stand-up in Finnish and made his English-language debut at last month’s open mic. We laughed so hard we’re bringing him to the big stage.

MC Louis Zezeran (AUS) – When this Aussie isn’t wrestling crocodiles with his third arm, he’s performing comedy all around Scandinavia. We’re all tickled and a little bit horny to have Louis hosting the English Comedy Club for the first time.

English Comedy Club – March 26, 2010

Last month’s English Comedy Club was sooo popular, about 70 people were turned away from the door (sucks!) – So this month we’ve graduated to Manala’s big ballroom! And for those who are still worried, we’re selling tickets in advance via Lippu.fi! Hooray!

This month we’re back with another killer stand-up show. Two of the biggest names in Finnish comedy, Tomi Walamies and Rich Lyons, will be headlining. They’ll be joined by two super super super funny people, Zoe Chandler and Henric Chezek. And some asshole named Phil Schwarzmann will be hosting. (boo!)

Join us on March 26th at 8pm at Manala’s 2nd floor ballroom in Helsinki for another great night of all-English stand-up comedy. Tickets are 12e (10e students) and can be pre-ordered from Lippu.fi.
