Hiya! My name is Phil, I’m a 36-year old social media geek, tech junkie, and writer from the states. After spending the past ten years in Europe I now reside in San Francisco. My latest book, “How to Marry a Finnish Girl“, is currently out from Gummerus Publishers.
I currently head up social media at Equinix, the “home of the interconnected cloud”, and largest provider of data centers in the world. I focus on digital strategy, social selling, influencer engagement, executive communications, and content creation.
Previously I led the social media team at Nokia North America and spent many years in various marketing and communications roles at Nokia’s Finland and Silicon Valley headquarters. I served as Editor-in-Chief of Nokia’s official blog, Nokia Conversations, which boasted a readership over one million uniques per month. And previously was the digital marketing lead for Nokia’s gaming and app store initiatives.
The Verge called me “one of its [Nokia’s] more public faces”.
Together with your marketers, PR managers, partners, clients, and agencies, I create and lead a social strategy that builds community, generates buzz, and shows a strong ROI. Through new media like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, Google+, blogs, podcasts, and more, we’ll create killer content, rabid fans, and take your brand to international heights.

When I’m not geeking out to mobile phones and social media trends, I moonlight as a stand-up comic around San Francisco while having performed in New York, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, and Estonia. I love testing out new jokes on Twitter and writing humorous pieces on my blog “Better! Funner!“.
Find me reading a Philip K. Dick novel, enjoying live comedy, petsitting a friend’s dog, watching a highly-iMDB-rated film, laughing at something on Comedy Central, listening to Depeche Mode on my headphones at the gym, shooting photos on my Canon 6D, perusing through GQ, catching a Giants game, sipping on a new pale ale, dancing to electropop as I cook, and feeling guilty for not writing more often.
